Question 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?

Audience Feedback

When we received our feedback we were very pleased with the results as they were positive. Although we did receive useful criticism that has helped us improve both our video and ancillaries further. Receiving and comprehending audience feedback is essential, the is due to the audience it the main consumer of your product and you must be able to meet their needs. In conclusion the group found both the teacher and peer feedback very useful as they were both detailed and provided us with improvements that can make our production more successful. In addition to this the peer feedback was particularity useful as, our peers were a similar age to are target demographic, so their opinion was vital.

Audience Feedback: Peer Interviews

Ancillary Feedback

Draft 1:

This is our first draft of our ancillary tasks. We received the following feedback:
-No graphic matches between CD inserts and video
-Does not maintain any similar anesthetics
-The content was not original

This criticism enhanced our creativity and we started  create are second draft with the criticism and tips in mind.

Draft 2:

As you can see above we have now added all the CD inserts. We took on board all the feedback that was given to us. We have now taken original images. Here the artist connotes the 1950's anesthetic in costume and mise en scene.

Final Draft:

This is our final product we have taken on board all the feedback from teacher and peers. All CD inserts have a similar anesthetic that. The images link to our music video as we have used Polaroid templates. We added bright colours to the backgrounds to create a upbeat and lighthearted atmsosphere/feel.

Secondary Audience Research

Secondary Audience Research

When looking back on how the music industry has grown and developed it has been made clear to me some of the most expensive videos of all time have been made in the early eerier of 1980- 1995. The most expensive video of all time is Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson's "Scream" released in 1995. At the time the production costs totaled to
$7,000,000, this cost has been adjusted to $10,723,957 in 2014 due to inflation.

|

As of today the most expensive video made in the last  5 years or so is Britney Spears piece of me in 2007. Production costs came to $500000. This is a massive difference compared to the Scream video. This is due to the time it was made.

Filming Diary Continued

Using the green screen

Before using the green screen we had to plan our studio layout and green screen size to make sure when we begin to film the green screen is wide enough for the whole shot. Ideally when we set up the green screen there should be some space between the foreground subjects and the green screen - this would make the lighting easier but due to use having insufficient lighting some shadows formed. This was a huge problem however we were able to overcome it by moving the lights we did have available until shadows became minimal this was a hit and miss exercise but through resilience we were successful.

We used a fabric green screen, the advantages of using this was the material was not to reflective, the screen was a brighter green which helps when you change the ultra key in adobe premier. However the material was not crease resistant and the green screen was not smooth, we were on a tight schedule so we did not have time to iron the material to keep the wrinkles away; so we put weights on the end of the green sheet to pull the sheet straight and tight to minimize wrinkles. Wrinkles are not easily shown when filming on camera. But upon uploading footage the wrinkles become more clear and effect the transformation of the green screen to another background.

Uploading footage

As we are in post production we will be using adobe premier to remove the green screen away from the action on screen and replace it with our own background.

Improvements/Tips
  • Make sure we have sufficient lighting.
  • Ensure the green screen has no wrinkles.
  • When selecting the ultra key color, try to select the part of the screen which best represents the overall color.
  • Do not use blue or green props or clothing as it will just clash with the green screen.
  • Dark colored clothing creates more of a green rim around foreground objects than light colors.
